I went on a women's retreat with my church. The theme was "Taste and See the Lord is Good" based on Psalm 34. We went through the entire Psalm and talked about each verse. Psalm 34 is an acrostic, which means the first letter of each verse represents a letter in the Hebrew alphabet. It would be like writing a list in order of A-B-C etc. I took a lot of notes and I would like to share some of what I wrote.
We say we have faith, but we don't even taste and see IF the Lord is good. How can we know His goodness until we try it out? David was willing to try God out, to take a taste test to see if what he tasted was good. He tasted God and discovered that God really is good! He is good to those who wait for Him. If we seek God, which is to give him top priority, we are allowed an audience with Him and favor from Him when we pray. If we never enter His throne room, we will not see His goodness. When we pray, do we pray to accept things as they are, or do we pray and expect things to change? David prayed and expected things to change.
God is always aware of each of our needs, and He wants to care for us. It is not a chore for God to watch over and take care of us. He hears our cries and He answers. He reponds to our overwhelming feelings, and He is deeply concerned for our welfare. Our culture is not sympathetic to the broken hearted, yet a broken heart is acceptable and welcomed by God. He rushes to dwell with us. When we feel those deep pains and hurts, that is when we need to cry out to God, instead of trying to heal the hurt by shopping or eating or working or whatever. When we admit our need for Him, He enters into our pain and will never leave us. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you!

I am so blessed with your insight from the retreat. Having a close relationship with God is the desire of his heart and we are remiss if we fill our time with him by just making requests. He wants our hearts tuned to his frequency of intimacy; we are truly loved by him. Col. 2:2 says we may have all the riches that assurance brings in understanding of the knowledge of the mystery of God, namely, Christ. He is our hope of glory.
