Queen Mary

Now we are officially exhausted from our summer vacation. Our last stop was the Queen Mary, which is docked off the coast of Long Beach, CA. Joanne was especially interested in this stop because she and Dave cruised on the Queen Mary in 1962. We went aboard and walked the entire length of the boat. The boys liked the engine room because the engine was so big that it filled multiple rooms. Joanne enjoyed walking down the hall where the guest cabins are located. She couldn't remember which room they stayed in on their voyage. There was a Russian submarine docked next to the Queen Mary. We didn't go aboard, we just looked at it from the outside.

We arrived at the airport early and then our flight was delayed due to mechanical problems with the plane. We had to wait for the next flight. The boys were very patient in this waiting process, even though it was getting toward their bedtime. It all worked out, but we got home at 1:30 a.m. The next day we were wiped out, unable to do anything productive. It was a good day to rest before getting back into our routines. We made some great family memories together on this trip.
